there’s always that one person in the cast that posts in the show event, “sorry, guys. I don’t think I can come ;)” you should probably rethink your life ASAP

Day 1: Why am I still awake? Oh, wait. There’s no sleep during tech week.

Alrighty…here’s the part where I complain:

First of all, I was running late. I don’t think my parents understand the meaning of “Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable.” I can’t drive! I’m depending on them to get me there. We live 40 minutes away from the theater. So when they woke up from their nap, I was like, “Hey, we have to go now or I’ll be late.” So my mother goes and jumps in the shower and then takes 20 minutes to get out the door. My call was 5:30 and we started costume parade at 6, so I wanted to be there at 5:15 before the dressing rooms started to get crowded. We left at 4:55. I was beyond pissed. Then they ask me why I’m so anxious all the time. I WANT TO DO THINGS RIGHT. Sorry.

Secondly, our pianist wasn’t able to come in tonight. So essentially, it was just a cue-to-cue, but everyone said every single line and sang acapella. There was so much tedious waiting. It was rough. And then there was the fact that there is limited air conditioning and costumes that weigh 25 pounds per person. Someone’s getting hospitalized for heat stroke this week, I can tell you that right now. Especially with stage lights beating down on you. And my shoes didn’t help either. Those things are gorgeous, but ooh gurrrrrlll. After standing for 4 hours in those things, my feet felt like I was walking on glass.

Thirdly, while we were waiting on stage for them to fix the lights for the ball scene. We were informed that it was 10 minutes before 10 (when we were supposed to leave) and we hadn’t even gotten through the end of the second act. So we were kept until 11. An hour goes by, and we hadn’t started the third act (or continuation of Act 2, as Chris Jones puts it) yet. So we have to finish that before our run tomorrow.

But then some funny shit happened, too. The professionals are hilarious. What else do you have to do when your standing around?

And also, my mom got me Sheetz. Okay…it’s a gas station, but they have a fast food place inside. THAT FOOD IS SO GOOD. Northerners/Virginians should know what I’m talking about. 5 piece chicken strips and some honey mustard. GET IN MY MOUTH. I’ve literally been living off of it for the past 2 weeks.

Welcome, Tumblr…to tech week at The Prizery.

I just couldn’t say that one part about “under God.” Under God, Mrs. Blodgett? I hear over there in Vietnam, we’re killing children. Under God?

The Prizery was the company I did Seussical with over the summer. I swear, it was the best summer of my life. This summer they were planning to produce Hairspray, The Color Purple, and Cinderella, but they are struggling and trying to raise money to be able to hire 25 professionals to produce these wonderful shows. I really would hate to see this program go, because I’d like to go back this summer and do these shows. So, here’s the creative director for all things The Prizery has to offer, Chris Jones, LaShonda Brown (Cat in the Hat and the best person ever), and little Gracie Bernache (the cutest human being ever) to tell you about this program and how much it means. And if you or you and your parents are feeling generous, please donate? It would mean the world to so many people. Thanks.

Memorizing lines for this show is so difficult. All of my lines are so scattered. I’ve been running them every day during break, but I still feel like I need more time. We go off book tomorrow. And I still need to do my character work. Life.

waltdisneyconfessions:

“Although I love Tangled and Princess and the Frog, I do not want either to be turned into a musical. There is just no way they could be pulled off and I think the Disney on Ice shows have proven that.”

Hold on. I know it’s not Disney, but they turned Shrek into a musical. SHREK. Boiling lava, dragons. Etc, etc, etc. And it’s pretty amazing. Disney on Ice is nothing like Broadway. You’re on ice skates, for one thing. You can only do so much on ice. They could easily turn both into musicals that will be like Book of Mormon and be sold out until February. You underestimate play writes, and actors, and producers, and directors, and set designers, and tech people, and all of theatre.

Rant over.
